Borage is my favorite companion plant for the vegetable garden. It is a robust and beautiful flowering herb that readily reseeds and attracts pollinators. It also is great at the base of vegetables such as tomatoes, and a lovely accent in a strawberry bed. As a companion it helps keep weeds at bay and adds organic material to the soil when you dig it in at the end of the season.
Planting borage with strawberries and tomatoes will attract pollinators and increase production. The flowers are edible and taste like cucumbers, and are a tasty addition in salads and cucumber lemonade.
